Every person, place, or thing in TejonBT is an object, so it’s important to be able to locate and open any object quickly. Because finding objects is so critical, there are several ways to search for an object. The most common ways are QuickSearch and the object browse, but objects can also be found by viewing their connection to other objects, by browsing their activities and forms, or by finding objects using a filter.
QuickSearch is the first item in the Main task Toolbar for a good reason, it's the easiest way to find a single object (person, place or thing) and then open the object in a new tab.
Simply enter the object's name, nickname, or Object Code, and QuickSearch scans the whole database - every type, status, and region - and returns a list of possible objects. You don't have to spell the object's name exactly, QuickSearch does a fuzzy search that will try to find a match even if it's not spelled correctly.
For more details on how QuickSearch works and its more advanced features jump to the Using QuickSearch knowledge base article.
The Browse tab is a quick way to scan all the objects based on their type, region, and status. If the Browse tab isn't already open, you can open it by clicking on the Browse icon in the Main Toolbar.
In the Main Filter (the left hand panel), select the type of objects and the region you want to browse.
In the browse results, just double click an object to open it in a new tab.
This is a brief introduction to the Browse to get you started. You can find more advanced details on browsing in the Browsing through the Objects knowledge article.
The Object Preview
Nearly anyplace you see an object's name, you can right-click and open the Object Preview. (The only exceptions are the QuickSearch list and the Favorite list - both in the Main Toolbar.)
The Object Preview gives you an overview of the object including the recent history of their engagement by month and their type, status and region history.
The mini-toolbar enables you to do a few of the more common tasks without having to open the object in a new tab, such as:
- Setting the object as a favorite
- Logging a phone call or email
- Opening the object in the Connection Viewer
To open the object in a new tab, click on the open icon in the lower right corner of the Object preview.
To close the Object Preview, just move the mouse off the Object Preview.
